SEXUALITY AS A GRADE

As you can see in the picture above we have a multitude of words that for many of you will be unknown terms that more than one individual will be the first time you see them, but the goal of this scheme is to show that something as simple as it seems explain the society about the gay-heterosexual or male-female dichotomy is not as simple as we might think...

  

          Most of us have been taught from the earliest childhood that there are a series of categories, that you must be male or female, if you're in a genre you have to like one thing and if you're on the other the other, the truth is that these dichotomies which seemed unbridgeable and have remained culturally immutable until the most recent history, it seems that in recent years they are as breaking and leading to other structures ... more partisan of dichotomies are ranges. In the next picture you have a diagram of what I want to express.

In this picture we can see summarized the recent view of sexuality at different levels: gender identity (what one feels), in terms of gender expression (the physical shape of one), level of sexual organs (hormones) and at whom one is attracted.

Each of these ranges expressed, if you put the zoom you can see how they have a number of defined categories, categories defined in question of the degree of expression on each of the two ranges that have the four levels to define the sexuality of each individual. In total there are currently about 5 categories per level, for a total of 20 categories, which will be treated individually each week since it is quite interesting each of them.

            What I mean with this is that sexuality as it is well said in the picture does not understand binomials or dichotomies such perfectly defined categories, it is more a question of degree on each of its levels. This blog I hope you find it interesting because it will treat each of these not very well known categories mentioned in the previous picture, teaching us that although society wants to simplify us and cut the essence of things, there is a huge range that to us it is hidden in plain view and it seems that certain sectors of society are beginning to wake up ... beginning to change what used to be understood as dichotomy, now is more likely to be a matter of degree.
